Cheryl & Cooper

I wanted to share some photos that I took from this session a few months ago.

Aren't Cooper & his Momma the cutest!?
Grandma stepped in for a picture too

It's been a few weeks since I've entered the I Heart Faces Weekly Photo Challenge, but this week the theme is props, and I thought I had the perfect photo for this theme!

What's a better prop than ice cream to keep a busy toddler still?

Perfect Moment in Time

I shared this post on my other blog Mommas {ME} Time, but I knew it would be perfect for this blog as well!

Sometimes when I'm practicing photography I get so caught up in achieving the perfect picture. I worry so much about my camera settings, looking for perfect lighting, and getting super sharp pictures that I often forget to focus on the subjects and the moments at hand.
After an afternoon at the lake, a day full of pictures, snacking, and rock throwing, my boys were ready to head home. Walking back to the car, I stopped them for one last picture just as Ethan snuggled into Daddy's shoulder. The emotion and gratitude on my husband's face expresses how much he enjoyed that moment. As Ethan ages, we see less and less of these moments. He's independence has taken over and he doesn't need Mommy and Daddy as much as he use to. This is why it is so important for me to capture these moments.

Does this photo have perfect lighting? No. Is this photo perfectly sharp? No.
But what it does have is raw emotion.
A perfect moment in time captured.
A picture we will look back on and remember just how we felt.
This is what photography is about <3

Couple weeks ago we ventured downtown for a little fun day which included grabbing lunch, antique shopping and ice cream (my fav part! They have the best strawberry ice cream, like really the best!) Since we are still new to this city, it's nice to experience different parts of it. I thought it would be a great opportunity to get some pictures of our little guy in a new environment. Here's a few shot from the day

This is my favorite! Which is yours?

See that yummy strawberry ice cream :)

I'm in love with this lighting!

Nap Time No More

In the last couple weeks, Ethan has been rebelling against nap time. Every time we lay him down to sleep, he sneaks out of bed to play. After a few days of fighting with him to try and get him to nap, we decided to give up the fight. If he doesn't want to nap he doesn't have to.
Seeing the nap times go away made me very sad.
Not only do the missed naps mean I no long have "me" time, it also means my little baby is growing up. He no longer needs those extra hours of sleep to get him through the day.
But his missed naps and late night bedtimes have finally caught up with him.
Today he fell asleep in his buzz tent.

Seeing him sleeping reminds me of when he was a baby, and would nap most the day away in my arms. Some days I long for those days of cuddling together and watching this precious face sleep.
Although nap time will completely pass someday soon, his sleeping face will always remind me of those days.
I may always have to sneak in during the night to catch a glimpse of this sleeping face even when he's 18 :)

News Alert: Haircut

A couple weeks ago we gave our little man his first short haircut. It was very nerve wreaking as his Momma to cut off his long and beautiful hair. Every where we went people would comment on how much hair and how beautiful his hair was.
With summer in full swing and 90+ degrees, we decided to buzz it all off. I have to say, he's even more handsome now :) I love how I can see all his facial features and his little cute expressions even more now!
You will be able to enjoy them too in upcoming post :)

Let's Hear it For the Boys

This weeks photo challenge at I Heart Faces is Let's Hear it For the Boys.
So I'm entering my favorite photo of my boys

I love everything about this photo, from their eye lashes to their pouty lips, to the way their heads lean against each other. These two boys are my world and I couldn't imagine life without them. Sweet moments like these makes everything better.
